So, What Else Do You Do?

Updated: Feb 15, 2018

My main job title around the church is a Worship Leader. I lead worship for our awesome congregation of people at Bayside Blue Oaks almost every single weekend. But I get this question all the time:

So, what do you do all week after the weekend is over?

Since I am not a full-time blogger, blogging isn't a part of my job description. It's just something I like to do to express myself. So if you are looking for the schedule of a blogger, this isn't quite the post for you. But if you are looking for a schedule of someone in full-time ministry and art, you've come to the right place!

I'm going to go through my every day, and give you a quick glimpse to what happens in the daily activities of my work week. I am excluding all extra activities that have nothing to do with church. Some things are weekly, some things are seasonal. Let's take a look...

Friday

This is my only full day off in the week. Scott and I spend it working on our relationship as a little family. Read more about it Here!

Saturday

In this season, I start at 8:00am

(weekly) 7 hour Spring Musical rehearsal

(weekly) Sound check and rehearsal for services

(weekly) 4:45 Church Service

(extra) Baptism

Finish at 6:00pm

Sunday

Start at 8:30am

(weekly) Sound check for services

(weekly) 9:15 service

(weekly) 11:15 service

(extra) Growth Track class

(extra) Volunteer recruitment

Flexible Finish at 1:00pm

Then the cycle starts all over again! It's a pretty full week, but I wouldn't trade this season of my life for anything. I like being busy with good, meaningful work. However, I also recognize that rest is equally as important as impact, and getting away sometimes is absolutely vital to my health as a normal human being.

So now you know! Every worship leader has a whole week of behind the scenes work that they are responsible for. The life is not as glamorous as you may think. We're just people trying to make church feel like home.
